Nassau & the Bahamas

Visa-free for Jamaican passport holders

The shortest international escape on the board. Nassau and Paradise Island put clear water, big resorts and a walkable capital within a couple of hours of home — which makes it the easiest long weekend abroad.

The place

Travel highlights

  • Short flight times from Jamaica and the eastern United States
  • Cable Beach and Paradise Island resorts, including large family properties
  • Some of the clearest water in the Caribbean
  • The Exumas and their sandbars as a day trip or an add-on

Popular experiences

  • The Exumas by boat — sandbars and swimming pigs
  • Snorkelling the reef off New Providence
  • Downtown Nassau and the straw market
  • A quiet day on a west-end beach

Advisor’s notes

  • A three or four night trip works here in a way it doesn’t for longer-haul destinations
  • Resort day passes exist if you are arriving by cruise — ask us
  • The out islands are a different holiday entirely; say so if that’s what you want

Questions

How long should we go for?

Three or four nights works well — the flight is short enough that a long weekend genuinely feels like a trip.

Is it expensive?

It can be, particularly on Paradise Island. There is real value in the shoulder seasons and in the smaller properties, and we’ll show you both.

Can we visit the Exumas?

Yes, as a full-day boat excursion from Nassau or as a separate stay. We’ll tell you honestly which is worth it for your dates.
